PROPERTY TAX REFORM

The Property Tax Reform Committee formed by Gov. Jeb Bush announced
that it would hold its next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 20, in Orlando.
Additional information about the committee, its schedule and strategic goals can be found on the group's Web site, http://www.propertytaxreform.state.fl.us. The Sept. 20 event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Orlando City Council Chambers,
City Hall, 400 S. Orange Ave., Orlando.

PROPERTY INSURANCE: SUGGEST SOLUTIONS

The Property and Casualty Insurance Reform Committee, chaired by
Lt. Governor Toni Jennings and including two Realtor members, will
hold its second meeting this Thursday, Aug. 24, in Orlando from 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Anyone may attend, and as part of the meeting, the committee
will listen to public input and comments about property insurance issues
in Florida. Additional information can be found on the committee’s
newly launched Web site that features member bios and meeting
information; and comments may also be submitted online at
http://www.myfloridainsurancereform.com. Thursday's meeting
will take place in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center,

2nd Quarter Home Sales

Florida's housing sector followed the national trend in second quarter 2006, showing signs of a market adjusting to a better balance between buyers and sellers. Statewide sales of single-family existing homes totaled 53,161 during the three-month period, a decrease of 27 percent from a year earlier, according to FAR. The statewide existing-home median sales price rose 9 percent to reach $254,800.
